Kabbage Elevator Pitch: Meet Our Small Business Pitch Winner!

Small Business Pitch

We have a winner! One entrepreneur took home $10,000 for a small business pitch!

This fall, we took our commitment to small businesses to a new level with our Elevator Pitch contest. Small businesses were invited to submit their best business pitches for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to pitch superstar entrepreneur, inventor and contest judge Lori Greiner. As the creator of more than 500 products, Lori is a pro at identifying great ideas and mentoring entrepreneurs.

We received hundreds of creative entries from amazing entrepreneurs all over the country, including businesses from wine making and after-school programs to sustainable forestry and cold-pressed baby food. Our panel selected five finalists who to deliver their pitches in person.

Meet the 5 Elevator Pitch Finalists:

Traci, Mumberry Maternity Activewear

Mumberry Maternity Activewear provides crucial belly and back support to help women throughout healthy pregnancies. When Traci and her cofounder both became pregnant while developing their first collection, they used their own experiences to perfect their clothing designs. Moving forward, they plan to expand their brand awareness and distribution to reach more women who want to continue living an active lifestyle during pregnancy.

Kalil, Club MO Fitness

As the founder of Club MO Fitness, Kalil’s mission is to inspire people to live a life worth living. He founded Club MO on a simple philosophy: remove “gymtimidation” and the conventional obstacles of getting healthy. His business offers in-home and on-site personal training, corporate wellness programming and in-studio programs. Club MO is planning to expand its presence through franchising to positively impact the masses.

Junior, Supafly Skate Company

A lifelong skateboarding enthusiast, Junior always dreamed of one day turning this hobby into a career. Now, he owns and runs Supafly Skate company with the goal of offering the ultimate skating experience to everyone. He worked three jobs to save up the funds to manufacturer the first 300 Supafly bearings, which sold out in one month. Today, he’s focusing on building a responsive website and mobile application to drive additional sales.

Stephen, MyGreenFills

Stephen and his partner, Ruth, started MyGreenFills and are making a dramatic impact on the chemical industry. MyGreenFills.com provides a refillable laundry jug and then auto-ships soap refills to reduce packaging waste and free laundry rooms of toxic chemicals. In 2017, Stephen and Ruth are launching a campaign to harvest plastic pollution from oceans and turn that trash into lifetime warranty refillable jugs.

Shane, Tran’s Martial Arts-Fort Collins

When Shane walked through the doors of Tran’s Martial Arts-Fort Collins as a young man, he never dreamed he’d someday own the business. After serving in the United State Military and training in martial arts around the world, Shane purchased Tran’s and began teaching his own students. Now, Shane runs programs like kids’ self-defense and an afterschool pickup program that provides bully prevention and leadership training. Moving forward, he plans to buy equipment that will allow him to expand the afterschool programming he offers.

Elevator Pitch: A Recap

The entrepreneurs had the length of an elevator ride to pitch contest judge Lori. They shared why they should receive the $10,000 prize from Kabbage and how they would use the funds to move their business forward.

After carefully considering each entrepreneur’s pitch, Lori selected Junior from Supafly. Junior received one-on-one business advice straight from Lori, and he plans to use his $10,000 to purchase inventory, expand his marketing, establish a customer service team and update his website.
