L. Scott Askins has followed Kabbage's success since its founding. Having collaborated with co-founder Rob Frohwein in a previous role, she connected again with Rob in 2016 when a position was available. Scott joined Kabbage as Head of Legal and serves as a crucial part of Kabbage's rapid growth trajectory.
Scott began her legal career as an associate with Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and with Alston & Bird. She later served as Vice President, Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary at WebMD, where she managed WebMD's corporate legal matters, IPO filing, M&A and strategic investment activity, including strategic transactions valued at an aggregate of approximately $12.4 billion. When WebMD's corporate headquarters relocated, she took the opportunity to spend a year traveling internationally, including throughout East Africa and Southeast Asia.
Scott then joined Premiere Global Services, Inc. (PGi), the world's largest dedicated provider of collaboration software and services, where she served as Executive Vice President - Legal, General Counsel and Secretary for more than 12 years. There, she was responsible for leading PGi's global legal services team and overseeing all legal matters, including PGi's 'go private' transaction valued at approximately $1 billion.
When she's not at Kabbage, Scott likes to visit Isle of Palms beach near Charleston, S.C., and enjoys outdoor activities with her daughter. Her favorite small business is Kelly's Closet, a bridal and women's clothing boutique in Atlanta.
